Beg Me by Shiloh Walker

Beg Me by Shiloh walker was one heck of an emotional rollercoaster ride!  This was a great story that I really enjoyed reading.  I wasn't sure about it at first as I don't go in for the "forced sex" idea.  This story though grabbed me from the very start and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through.  Strong characters, well created and full of all the insecurities and faults of the best remembered characters that make grabbing, exciting reading drove this story.  They were so real, so compelling that it forced you to keep reading to find out how or even "if" they were going to resolve what was happening to them.  ***** out of 5 stars for this story.  An excellent read!

Beg me…there had been a time when those words made her burn with desire. But now, there was only fear.

Once, Tania Sinclair’s life was almost perfect…oh, it had its ups and downs but she was happily married to a guy that adored her, one who had no problem indulging every kinky fantasy she ever had. But a couple of tragedies later, she’s barely holding it together. A car accident took away her husband, and an attack from somebody she should have been able to trust has shaken not only her confidence, but it’s also stripped away her fantasies and even made it painful to look back on her memories of her husband without fear.

Two years after her attack, Tania is determined to take her life back and the first step is taking back herself…her fantasies, her dreams, her memories. There’s only one person she can trust to do it, too. One person she wants enough…Drake Bennett, her husband’s best friend.

Falling for your best friend’s wife—never smart. Drake’s watched Tania quietly for years, watched her…wanted her, knowing he’d never have her. First, she was taken. And then, that night two years ago—a night that still scars her, a night that’s left bruises on her that still haven’t healed. He does what he can, though, because he loves her too much not to. He’s her friend, there when she needs him.

And now she needs him. She’s asked him for a favor…one that just about blows his mind…

Warning: This book involves light bondage play, rape fantasy & role-playing. The acts between the hero & heroine are consensual, but they may not be ideal for all readers…

A Rocky Path by Lauralynn Elliott

I just finished reading "A Rocky Path" by Lauralynn Elliott. This is very different from what I've been reading in that it was a very sweet & lovely love story.  Emily is very sweet, young woman who has tragically lost her husband a few years before.  She takes a job as the personal assistant of an author who lives in a huge mansion in northern Maine.  She finds a very sweet, kindred spirit in the author and her family and finds a peace and contentment she hadn't experienced in a while. While exploring rooms in the mansion she comes across one that has all the old furniture and belongings that were in the house before Rebecca, the writer, bought it.  Inside one drawer she finds a small silver ring.  Rebecca tells her she can keep it if she wants.  Shortly afterward she finds a quiet man sitting down on the rocks below the mansion drawing in a notebook.  Emily finds herself strangely drawn to the man who tells her his name is Patrick.  Without meaning to Emily and Patrick fall in love.  Just when you think things are going to be HEA it turns out that things aren't really what they seem.

This was a very pleasant read and a nice breath of fresh air as far as stories go.  It did feel a bit stiff in places but nothing that truly detracted from the story itself.  The pace was smooth, the story very intriguing and the characters were wonderfully crafted.  **** out of 5 stars for this.

A Rocky PathA Rocky Path

After losing her husband, Emily Adams leaves the life she has begun to hate and starts a new life in Maine, working for a well-known author. As she explores a path down to the rocky shoreline, she meets a very talented artist who is both attractive and mysterious. She finds herself falling for him, but there is something strange and puzzling about this man. Then Emily finds some old letters, journals and paintings which cause her to make a shocking discovery about the man she loves that changes everything about their relationship?and everything she believed about the world.

The Nights Before Christmas by Kerry Allen

The Nights Before Christmas by Kerry Allen was a fun, hilarious read.  Irreverent, sassy, Elf Assassin meets uptight, boring and humorless vampire.  Bowe has been convicted and sentenced to death.  Her only option is to fulfill a totally impossible task; bring the Christmas spirit to a miserable bastard, i.e. Harvey Doyle, the uptight, boring and humorless vampire.  If she can't do that before Midnight Christmas Eve, she dies a painful and since they also cursed her to immortality, endless death by crushing as the clothes she wears shrink and cut her in half.  Sweet huh?  Harvey doesn't want to play so Bowe sets her aim on forcing a capitualization whether he likes it or not.  After forcing Harvey to accompany her by threatening the others in his office, she sets about making Harvey actually LIVE instead of merely exist.  The antics she goes to in order to make Harvey see the light are for the most part humorous.  She's pushy, sexy and ultimately uncaring how far she has to go to get the results she wants.  Eventually they both realize that no matter what she accomplishes the Council will still find a way of executing the sentence against her.  Harvey then makes it his business to see that it doesn't go down the way they expect it to. The ending is something neither one of them expects.
This was a funny and light romp well worth the time it took to read it.
The Nights Before Christmashttp://www.amazon.com/The-Nights-Before-Christmas-ebook/dp/B003BIGFWK

To Harvey Doyle, law-abiding vampire and civil servant, Christmas represents no more than an inconvenient disruption of his routine. When he receives a nearly-dead elf during the office gift exchange, he discovers the true meaning of disruption.

Bowe Winderowe, elven assassin and convicted felon, has been ordered to serve the remainder of her sentence dressed as Santa’s slutty little helper. Her condemners, required to offer her a chance at redemption, claim they’ll revoke the execution order if she can awaken the Christmas spirit in the saddest excuse for a bloodsucker she’s ever seen.

Since Bowe doesn’t believe in death-averting Christmas miracles any more than Harvey does, she’s determined to spend her final twenty-four hours teaching him how to live… whether he likes it or not.

Twas The Night

Just finished Twas The Night by Sandra Hill, Kate Holmes and Trish Jensen. An absolutely wonderful story. A fantastic read worth the time.  A wonderful romantic story that could have ended up all jumbled but came together very smoothly and was a joy to read.  This is the story of three young men, raised rough, that made a place for themselves in the world in spite of the odds against them.  This is also the story of 3 women who come to love these men.  Excellent read and well worth your time!

Reflections of a Stranger by Vivian Vincent

Reflections of a Stranger by Vivian Vincent is a wonderfully fun read.  The story of Kenny and Annica is a lovely romantic story of true love crossing the barriers of time.  Slow in spots it was still a moving and well written story.  Annica was immediately innocent and sexy at the same time.  This was more the tale of two very normal people suddenly in very abnormal situations.  A nice refreshing love story.  *** out of 5 stars only because of the drag in places and the forced, sometimes uncomfortable situations that just didn't flow as smoothly as the rest of the story.  Well worth the time to read.

Kenny Rosnoski finds himself having dreams of a beautiful young woman. He feels a connection to her and can't explain it because he's sure they've never met.

When he inherits an old house from his grandmother after her death, he decides to renovate it and discovers an old mirror in a room he'd never been in. After he sees the same woman from his dreams in his room, he goes to investigate, only to discover the mirror is a portal to another time and the woman is most definitely real-and living 150 years in the past!

Annica Miller was treated more like a servant than a daughter by her own mother. She spends time in her room to try and escape her mother's harsh treatment. When she discovers the magic of the mirror in her room, she uses it as a way to hide away from her own life. Little does she know she'll meet the man of her dreams-a man who lives 150 years in the future!

Hot To Trot by Desiree Holt

Hot To Trot by Desiree Holt ... this was a very fun read.  I enjoyed this story very much.  Autumn took a leap and bought a rach on e-bay.  She sold her condo, sold her car, quit her job and moved out to Bypass, Texas.  The beautiful ranch she had seen pictures of but actually bought sight unseen, didn't look anything like the rundown, dusty, house that met her gaze as she drove into the yard of her new home. All her elation of moving, starting her life anew suddenly seemed to for a solid lump in her throat as she saw her dreams come crashing down.  Then she saw him, Mitchell Brand, ranch foremen.  One look and she saw the young stud of her dreams.  Maybe, just maybe this wasn't going to be a complete bust after all.

The chemistry between Autumn and Mitch was evident right from the start.  The story, well written and the flow was smooth and well paced.  This was a great read, lots of fun and hot, hot sex.  **** out of 5 stars for this one.

Book four of the Cougar Challenge series.

Buying a ranch on eBay was the wildest thing Autumn Kelley had ever done. Past forty, she’d pretty much written excitement out of her life. But then she discovers the ranch comes with a foreman who makes her pulse pound and could give her an orgasm just by looking at her. As if that isn’t enough, he has a friend equally as mouthwatering—and the two of them take Autumn on an erotic trip that outdoes any fantasy she could ever have imagined.

If sex with one hot boy toy is fantastic, sex with two at the same time is a whole new level of amazing. But what happens when Autumn inevitably has to come down from the orgasmic high?

Shifting Gears by Jayne Rylon

I finished Shifting Gears by Jayne Rylon around 2 this morning.  I enjoyed this one very much.  While not quite as good as Driven it was just as smooth and fast paced.  It was a very good story and the characters were as hot and believable as in Driven.  This was the story of Mark and Sloan.  Mark is Sebastian's navigator for the races and the two men are as close as brothers.  Mark has been almost jealous of the love and happines that Sebastian found with Lynn.  Tired of the meaningless relationships that have always been OK before, Mark longs for a woman of his own.  He's secretly harbored a desire for the older but lovely Sloan, Public Relations rep for the racing teams.  Sloan is married though and Mark won't interfere in a marriage.  Sloan, recently divorced, has always noticed Sebastian & Mark but believes herself too old and way below these hot studs radar.  Recently out of a very hurtful divorce, Sloan is not looking for forever.  Men are pains and that's the last thing she needs in her life at this time.  But when she meets Lynn and comes in close contact with Sebastian and the every present Mark she can't help but feel the attraction to the younger man.  Lynn introduces her to the Tempt the Cougar blog and things pick up from there.  A hot fling could be just the thing to pick up her spirits but just a fling isn't what Mark wants.  The sex is hot the emotions electric and now all Mark has to do is get Sloan to see that a younger man can give here everything she needs.  Even if she doesn't realize she needs it.

Shifting Gears by Jayne Rylon   http://jaynerylon.com/books/cougar-challenge/shifting-gears/

A standalone book in the Cougar Challenge series, this book picks up the story of Mark Rossi (introduced in Driven).  Books in the Cougar Challenge series do not have to be read in order to be enjoyed.
Mark envies his friend Sebastian and the Cougar who tamed him. For years he’s had his eye on a sexy, older, married woman. Despite his and Bastian’s sexual adventures, he refuses to poach outside his steamy fantasies.
Sloan travels with the race car drivers as the league’s publicist. Living abroad can be lonely, especially when touring somewhere like China—where beautiful landscapes surround them but language and cultural barriers are high. Until she meets Lynn, who shares her love of erotic romances. In Lynn, she gains more than a friend because sexy-as-sin navigator Mark is never far from the Cougar and her fiancé, making Sloan wonder if it’s time rejoin the dating scene after a nasty divorce.
When Lynn notices the chemistry between Mark and Sloan, she issues the Cougar Challenge. Sloan never imagined she might grant her younger lover the strength to explore the sexual tension that has been building between him and his friend since their Cougars entered their lives.
Four friends, two couples, one night none of them will forget.
Reader Advisory: Novel contains a f/m/m/f ménage.

Driven by Jayne Rylon

Driven by Jayne Rylon is a very nice read.  Not as deep as some of the others but very intense.  I enjoyed this story and the characters.  This one almost seemed to have less background on the characters but the intense now-ness (word???) of them more than made up for it.  I leave reality at the door when I read.  To easy to nit-pick a story to death otherwise.  If the characters can carry it off then what else matters?  These characters definitely managed that part very well.  It surprised me how quickly I went through this one and it just seemed to jump from one high point to another.  This was a seriously enjoyable read!  Looking forward to the next one "Shifting Gears."

Driven by Jayne Rylon   http://jaynerylon.com/books/cougar-challenge/driven/

Book eight in the Cougar Challenge series.  These books do not have to be read in order to be enjoyed.

Lynn Madison transformed from repressed corporate drone to bold seductress overnight when her online friends at Tempt the Cougar encouraged her to take charge of her destiny.  Their advice haunts her as she drools over the hottest Italian Stallion on the planet while stranded in an airport.
Sebastian Fiori is a master of speed.  A rally car driver, he’s used to winning on and off the track.  He sees no need to brake around the sophisticate who revs his engine.  After spotting Lynn’s decadent ménage novel, he prepares to take her for the ride of a lifetime—with his navigator, Mark.
Storm delays threatening Lynn’s brand new life would be far more upsetting if her young stud wasn’t offering a first-class ticket to indulge her fantasy on the way to fulfilling her dream.  Neither of them expects their rendezvous to last beyond their transatlantic flight on his private jet.  But sometimes there’s no escaping the forces of nature.

Beauty of Sunset by Lynne Connolly

I just finished reading "Beauty of Sunset" by Lynne Connolly and it was a lovely read.  The characters came across so hot, so very real and so vibrant they set fire to the pages.  For me this was a beautiful story of love, honesty and discovery.  Two people of very different backgrounds, fighting their past and taking a chance on discovering something wonderful in each other.  I love being pulled in, losing myself in the characters, laughing when they laugh and crying when they cry.  This was a wonderful story and worth every moment it took to read it. ***** out of 5 stars on this one.

Book two of the Cougar Challenge series.

When Edie Howard meets cosmetic surgeon John Sung, she can’t think of anything except getting the younger man naked. Her friends on the Tempt the Cougar blog remind Edie of her promise—to seduce a younger man. It’s time for Edie to take action.

Dr. John Sung takes one look at Edie and knows he can’t operate on her. He signs off as her doctor and makes her a bet—if he can make her love her body as it is, she won’t have any surgery.

John’s bet involves close examinations—and torrid, sleepless nights. Their passion is far more than either expects, and John begins to wonder if he’ll ever get enough of this woman. Edie just counts her blessings and hopes their age difference won’t drive John away.

The Geek Next Door by Lauren Fraser

Just finished reading The Geek Next Door by Lauren Fraser.  This really was a fun read.  The chemistry between the characters was hot and the obvious differences in their personalities made them that much more interesting.  This was a great story.  There were a few slow spots, a little more background on the characters and more about the situation they were in would have been nice but it in no way detracted from the actual story itself.  I find that when I like characters I really want to know way much more about them than is necessary to keep the story flowing and I'm always left wanting at the end.  I realize that too much informatiuon would bog the story down, detract from the basic core of the story.  I guess that's why I like series.  In series you get so much more detail on the characters over the continuing story line.   Short stories, even full novels just can't provide that kind of detail.  That doesn't mean the stories aren't as good, some are just so fascinating that I don't miss the details. I get so wrapped up in what's happening at the moment that my mind doesn't have time to wander and wonder about what's behind all of this.  The Geek Next Door was fascinating, smooth and flowed nicely from beginning to end.  A very fun and enjoyable read.

When the woman of your dreams only sees you as her geeky neighbor, sometimes you have to go to extremes.

Bottoms Up by Eliza Gayle

I just finished Bottoms Up by Eliza Gayle and it was great! Riley & Jenn were awesome characters. The emotional rollercoaster Jenn went through during this story was amazing to see.  ***** out of 5 stars.

Snooping is risky business…sometimes it pays off in unexpected ways.
Jenn has been in love with her best friend since college and despite their years apart she is determined to at least find out if he has any interest in her. When the opportunity opens up in the form of a job interview in his hometown, she jumps on a plane with a plan to see what happens.
Riley walked away from Jenn after college to explore and understand the dark side of him that harbored needs he knew she was too young to understand. They kept in touch and after years of exploration into his kinks, he’s decided the time for hiding the truth from the woman he loved has come to an end.
When Jenn finds a BDSM book and a flyer for a local sex club in his condo, she is both shocked and intrigued. Riley catches her red-handed snooping through his things and dares her to give him and his lifestyle a chance. Two days to explore her potential submissive side and see where it leads.
With no hesitation and barely a thought to how far he might go, she jumps at the chance to prove she’s the woman for him, even if it’s just for the weekend.

The Howl and The Pussycat by Ann Cory

Just finished the Howl and The Pussycat by Ann Cory.  This was a very nice read.  A shapeshifter romance, heavy on the romance.  A very interesting little story and a very enjoyable read.  **** of 5 stars for enjoyment value.

Her day couldn’t get any worse—until the wolf shows up.
Jacquelyn’s sexy little Red Riding Hood outfit was supposed to rekindle her boyfriend’s flagging interest. Instead she’s red in the face and dumped for another woman. To add to the indignity, she finds herself pursued into the woods by a wolf.
Somehow she manages to escape, only to end up with two new pains—a twisted ankle, and a sexy rescuer who claims he’s been searching for her all his life.

After several decades of searching, Baldric is surprised that his destined mate is a provocative human woman with a catty attitude. Hardly a perfect match for a werewolf, but there can be no other partner for him. To seduce the woman he’s hungered for all his life, he’ll have to convince her hardened heart that he’s capable of love. And do it without scaring her off with the truth—that underneath his hard body beats the loyal heart of a wolf.

"Shackle Me Not" by Amarinda Jones

I just finished "Shackle Me Not" by Amarinda Jones.  This was one fun read!  There was laughter & tears and joy. So very much fun.  I truly enjoyed the interplay between Katharine and Will.  The chemistry, the electricity between them was excellent.  The characters were deep enough and easily identified with.  Between laughing at the sarcastic remarks that flew between the two and getting misty eyed when the emotions became too much this was one enjoyable story.  **** out of 5 stars.

Hot, wild sex is one thing but commitment is another. Katharine Mayflower is only too willing to jump Wil Sattler’s delicious body in an orgasmic frenzy of lust but the idea of forever scares her. Sure, songs have been written about it, but Katharine isn’t sure she can keep up with the beat.

Wil has two great loves—Katharine and music. His plan is to serenade her heart and body with sex, sin and submission until the only thing she can think of is him and her need for love. Music brought them back together, desire and hunger will seal their fate.

Sunday - Monday AM Reads

Well, I guess I'll start this by catching up on what I read after my last post yesterday.  After "Unmasking Kelly" by N. J. Walters I read "Tempting Alibi" by Savanah Stuart, "Discovering Sofia" by Mel Teshco and I finished up "Sins and Redemption" by Lyn Cash this morning.

"Tempting Alibi" by Savanah Stuart was a good story.
"Scott got into a fair amount of trouble as a teenager, but now he’s grown and runs a respectable auto body shop. Unfortunately, the sheriff of his town has it out for him, no matter how much he’s cleaned up his act. When he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit, no one is more surprised than he is when straitlaced Michaela Miller provides him with an alibi. An alibi that’s a complete lie. Determined to find out why his sexy next-door neighbor helped him out, he puts himself in danger of losing something he’d never considered. His heart."
I really enjoyed this one.  Scott and Michaela proved to be very full bodied characters.  While not getting too much into their background (which could have been fun but not really necessary) they still came across as interesting characters.  Scott is a tough, ex-marine who keep pretty much to himself and has little to say but his emotions run deep. He's very concious of his place in society. Michaela, born to the upper crust of society, has none of the usual hangups of status.  She sees Scott as a quiet yet interesting man who spikes her interest and sets her libido on fire. It's fun to watch these two interact. Makes for a very interesting and enjoyable story.  **** out of 5 stars.
http://www.jasminejade.com/p-8563-tempting-alibi.aspx

"Discovering Sofia" by Mel Teshco was another nice read.

"Sofia has struggled with insecurities since her ex-husband’s infidelity—until she meets a hitchhiker. A muscular, sexy younger man with a beautiful ass. Impulsively, she pulls her car to the side of the road and gives the scrumptious hunk a ride.
Jake’s an adventurous charmer who lets Sofia know exactly how desirable she is—proving it with his skillful hands before she even stops the car. Sofia realizes she might have found a solution to her battered self-esteem, if she has the nerve to take what Jake’s offering—a ride of the more carnal variety."

This was a very short, to the point story that while interesting, really didn't go into any depth on any of the characters.  It gave you a taste of them but only a small taste.  A fun read it was really too short to bring out any real depth.  This is a Free Read at Ellora's Cave and actually quite enjoyable.

"Sins and Redemption" by Lyn Cash was a very nice read.

"At forty-five, Layla’s been through her share of relationships—some of them decent, others despicable—and she lends her expertise on the subject to her weekly magazine column. Her most recent article, “Sexual Sins”, outlines the seven deadly sins men commit in sexual relationships. But now, Layla has a contender—some wise-ass kid reporter has written a list of his own.
Patrick hopes his article, “Sexual Redemption”, will make a splash and land him a regular magazine gig. He also hopes it will prove to women that men, especially twenty-somethings like himself, are not all total sinners. But when he comes face-to-face with the infamous “Mama Lay”, as she’s known in the office, Patrick realizes that in addition to her age and wisdom, Layla has another secret weapon—her overwhelming sexiness.
Not one to be outdone, Patrick decides he’ll try out his own advice in his effort to seduce Layla. And Layla is ready to see if this young, handsome hotshot can keep up with her, both in print and in the bedroom."

I'm not quite sure how the title fits in but the story itself was very good. I found these characters very interesting.  Again I could have wished for more background on both of these people and a more in depth look at them but that's just me.  The story carried very well, the characters were well developed and it was easy to be drawn into their lives. **** out of 5 stars

All of these books can be found at Ellora's Cave.

Unmasking Kelly by N. J. Walters

Unmasking Kelly by N. J. Walters was a wonderful, fun, joyful read.  The characters were hot, the sex was hotter and the story was just a joy to read.  Kelly was a full figured waitress who loved her job at Brannigan's and had slowly fallen in love with her boss, Liam Brannigan. Halloween gave her the perfect chance to dress up, hide her identity and seduce Liam without exposing herself.  With the help of a friend she fixes her hair, makeup and most importantly her mask ... she's ready to fulfill her fantasy and seduce her boss.  This story was very short but it was an excellent read.  Characters and story all came together from beginning to end.  Definitely **** out of 5 stars.

Surrender

I just finished "Surrender" an anthology by Eden Bradley, Eliza Gayle, Reese Gabriel & Alessia Brio.
"Breaking Skye" by Eden Bradley is a very good story.  I'll give it **** out of 5 stars.  The story of Skye, a strong woman in control of her life, an artist wanting to stretch herself, open herself to other possibilities but afraid to let go.  Adam, a Dom, sure in himself, sure of Skye's needs but hiding something deep inside that keeps him from freeing himself as much as Skye.  This is a journey of teaching, of learning, of listening, of opening to life.  Dom & Sub ... both learning and opening, letting another in close.  What a strong tale.

"Submissive Secrets" by Eliza Gayle  I liked the characters, the basis of the story was good.  My only real complaint was that it was WAYYYYYYY to short!  Just as you start to get into the story its over.  This was like a small vignette of a much larger image that remains unfinished.  It's good quick read but it just wets your appetite for more.  *** of 5 only because it was so short!

"Cupid's Captive" by Reese Gabriel  John Cupid hated Valentine's day.  His name made it impossible to enjoy and a veritable hell growing up.  He didn't believe in love and never let things go too far.  He was a lawyer and he made sure all his contacts went like a well written brief.  Each party's needs spelled out and followed to the letter.  No one got close.  Stephanie Hayes, long time friend, little sister to his partner in the firm.  She's loved John since she can remember and 3 years ago she found out his secret.  John was a Dom!  Since then Stephanie has read, experimented with college friends and basically set herself up to be exactly what John wanted/needed in a slave.  Her only problem now was to convice John she was everything he needed and that even at 21 she truly knew what she wanted.  That and to break down John's wall in getting close.  This was good.  A delicious read that really wetted the appetite.  You could see Steph pushing John's limits, pressing him to let her in and you could feel his attraction to her and his desire.  You could feel the walls he set up slowly crumbling .. but could he actually let go?  Excellent story, very well written and very deserving of **** out of 5 stars.

"Listen to Me" by Alessia Brio was a very very short story.  Nothing to grab on to.  The characters too undeveloped to really connect.  It almost read like a teaser to a longer, more complete story.  It held promise but never really delivered anything tangible.  Only ** out of 5 for this one.

Submissive Secrets by Eliza Gayle

Submissive Secrets by Eliza Gayle.  I liked the characters, the basis of the story was good.  My only real complaint was that it was WAYYYYYYY to short!  Just as you start to get into the story its over.  This was like a small vignette of a much larger image that remains unfinished.  It's good quick read but it just wets your appetite for more.

Under Her Skin -- Anthology

Finished Under Her Skin last night.  This was very nice anthology with Jeaniene Frost, Ilona Andrews and Meljean Brook.

The first story, "Pack" by Jeaniene Frost was very good.  Young woman leaves her friends and gets lost in the forest of Yellowstone National Park.  Suddenly she's being chased by wolves that aren't just wolves. Coming to terms with her new reality is harsh and no easy task. This was a very good story that I enjoyed very much.  **** out of 5 stars

"In Sheep's Clothing" by Meljean Brook was the second story and another very good read.  A werewolf goes home after five years away, back to the man she left behind and ends up the focus of a serial killer. To get her chance at life back she must show the man of her heart what she really is and help him track the serial killer down.  I liked the characters and the way I was drawn into the story almost from the first sentence.  This is another **** out of 5 stars.

"The Grace of Small Magics" by Ilona Andrews was the third story and while I really enjoyed this one I found the ending to be less than satisfactory.  A powerful mage puts his life in the hands of a woman with only small magic ability.  The story was very good and the characters strong and believable but the ending while OK actually felt abrupt and to me seemed to leave out many interesting details that would have made it much more satisfying.  Over all I'll give this one *** out of 5 stars.

This was a very good anthology and definitely one worth getting.  Overall rating **** out of 5 stars.

Buckling Down: A Wild Ride story

This one took me by surprise.  I didn't know what to expect when I opened this story.  I've bought so many new books recently I couldn't remember what I had read about this that interested me.  Once I began reading it I was caught up in the characters immediately.  Levi McKenna and Sydney Hart leapt off the page and pulled me into their lives.  This was an awesome read and really enjoyed it.  I'm looking for more by Moira Keith.

Product Description

When two hearts are on the line, it’s double or nothing.
A Wild Ride story.
Levi McKenna heads to Las Vegas with one simple goal: win the rodeo and cement his place in rodeo history. Then Lady Luck throws a wild card into the deck—Sydney Hart. Sydney wants to believe in fairy tales and happily ever after, but her past relationships leave her doubting such things exist. She’s ready to give up on love…until Levi walks into her bar. The man who’s always held the missing piece of her heart. Love may not be in the cards, but that doesn’t mean a girl can’t flirt.

Warning: this book contains a sassy heroine, a scrumptious hero, blood, sweat, tears, not to mention…sex laced with Vegas heat.

Rekindled by Mari Carr

What a fantastic fun read! Rekindled by Mari Carr is a very short story about renewed love.

Claire was alone after 10 years with a loving husband and suddenly found herself with a ranch to run and it was seriously beginning to take its toll.  Eighteen hour days just trying to feed her hands and run the ranch was wearing her down and she really needed a break.  Her first forman had been a bust, cruel and mean and hadn't lasted two weeks.  Suddenly she finds herself looking through her screen at a man she hadn't seen in years and she wasn't sure it was a good thing.  Jeb had taken her virginity and then left for the rodeo 16 years ago. Now he's back and he wants the forman job .. and Claire.  Neither one had gotten over their feelings but too many years had passed and too many memories.  Was she willing to take a chance on something that could have been?  Jeb wanted Claire and he was willing to do anything to prove to her he'd changed and he was ready to settle down.

This had me smiling all the way through.

Drilled by Regina Carlysle

This was a very fun read.  Hot, spicy and lots of fun, Drilled is a good addition to the Cougar Challenge series.  These books can be read in any order and are basically stand alones but the underlying theme that ties them all together is the Tempt the Cougar blog.  7 women meet at RomantiCon and form a friendship.  One of them starts a blog called Tempt the Cougar and they all check in and take turns posting and checking out the pictures each posts of hot young men they'd love to have.  Finally one of them jumps in and says they need to take this from fantasy to reality.  She issues a challenge to all the others to go out, find a hot young man and live out their fantasies!  Then she goes and sets the example for the rest.

Lori Donovan, one of the ladies of the Cougar Challenge, moves back to her Texas hometown after ending a 20 year marriage to a man that had pretty much destroyed her self esteem.  How can she hope to fullfill the challenge when her one horse town probably really doesn't have much for her to work with.  Then a call comes from the man drilling for oil on her property.  His voice is hot enough to melt her bones and her body says, "Oh yeah!!"  Riding out to meet him to sign some papers the next day she finds sex on a stick in the buff and rough body of Jackson Blue.  Young, gorgeous and absolutely melt in her mouth delicious, Lori can barely keep her mind on their conversation as her fantasies run wild with possibilities.  Jackson takes one look at this hot, curvy and luscious blonde standing beside her truck and every part of him stands up and takes notice.  She's older than he is but she is so hot looking he can hardly wait to get to know her.  Used to drilling for oil he's all primed for a more personal kind of drilling.  Electricity crackles between them from their first look and Lori knows she in for one heck of a ride.

I enjoyed this story, it was fun, touchy and tender.  The characters were hot and the sex was hotter as they carry you along on their journey of exploration.  This is a definitely enjoyable afternoon read. I'll be looking for more of Regina Carlysle's work.

Haunted by the Past by Riley Ashford

Haunted by the Past by Riley Ashford is a very short story about lonliness, memories and undying love. Twila Montgomery spent her teenage summers at  Miller's Lake.  Her last summer there was bittersweet as her parents were on their way to divorce and Twila's first crush, sexy Kyle Danport, seemed to push her too fast.  Ten years later, her life in tatters, she returns to last place she had good memories of.  Her cheating boyfriend dumped her, her lecherous boss fired her and nasty bitch of a landlady kicked her out. Where else would she go except Miller's Lake.  At this point she doen't even mind having to rend the haunted cabin.  The cabin where 50 years ago a young woman disappeared and her husband was murdered.  She remembers seeing the Bride, the ghost that roamed Miller's Lake seeming to look for something lost.  She hopes that maybe the Bride has found what she lost all those years ago.  Maybe she will too.  Then the dreams start and when she calls the local police it's Kyle Danport who shows up in response to her call.  Maybe the Bride and Twila will find what they lost at Miller's Lake.

While short this was still a good story.  A fun read.

Nothing But Sex by Fran Lee

I just finished Nothing But Sex by Fran Lee. This was an excellent read.  A stand alone novel in the Cougar Challenge series.

Lee Blackhorse is hardly Cougar material, no matter what her friends over at Tempt the Cougar say. A forty-two-year-old woman who lusts after her thirty-year-old weekend helper is just plain nuts. Or is she? Mike Running Elk is the sexiest thing ever to don tight jeans and a second-skin t-shirt. She’s secretly yearned for the man for years.Mike has no problem seeing himself in the role of Lee’s lover. In fact, if he can just get the hot-as-hell woman to realize he’s plenty old enough to ring her bells, he plans to do more than just clean her barn and mow her grass. He’s waited for her long enough. When Mike shows up at her door with an injured hand, he notices Lee can’t pull her eyes off his naked, ripped chest. Mike can’t believe she’s as oblivious as she acts. The ice has been broken and he intends to heat things up even more…Reader Advisory: Our poor heroine endures some mild violence in a particular scene, but don’t worry—the hero’s got her back.

Play It Again, Sam by Samantha Kane

Finished Play It Again Sam by Samantha Kane last night.  This is technically the first book in the Tempt the Cougar series.  I've been reading them as the mood strikes and definitely not in order but that's OK.  Most of these books are stand alones.  They don't have to be read in order to actually enjoy and follow the series.  Each story is about a different woman and how she embraces the concept put forth by the other members of Tempt the Cougar.  I've found most of these stories very good reads so far.  Some better than others but all of them enjoyable.
In this book Monica Allen has been working hard and suffering from the loneliness of an empty bed.  She doesn't want a relationship, she just wants sex!  She stumble into her apartment after another very long workday and faced another night alone.  She'd met a group of women a few months ago at a Romanticon and found they shared a love of erotic romance novels.  These women formed a group blog online titled Tempt the Cougar.  Most of these women were in their late 30s to early 40s and all loved the idea of filling empty nights with a hot younger man like in the novels they so loved to read.  Monica had married a younger man and helped him through school when he precipitously dumped her for a much younger woman because she was just too 'old' to have his family!  Right ... so the idea of a younger man wasn't new but it had it's own baggage attached in her life.  Still, it was time to stop fantasizing about a younger man and fill her empty bed with someone hot and real.  After all, it was just for a night and just for fun ...right?  She goes online and puts the challenge out there for the others in the blog.  Stop fantasizing and go out and LIVE!  Since she made the challenge it was only fair she became the first to act on it.  Screwing up her courage she dresses up and heads out to a local bar she remembers as being a hang out for grad students.  What better place to find her younger man!  It had been awhile since Monica had been there and she find herself surrounded by a much much younger crowd than expected.  Looking around her eyes lock with those of the bartender and the the air begins to sizzle between them.  Sam Lincoln looks up to see one gorgeous looking woman come walking in the door of the bar and everyone else seems to disappear.  This is one HOT woman and older too .. just the way Sam likes them.  All Sam can think is ... mine!  Monica may not realize it just yet but she's going home with Sam tonight!  Sam is all about Monica .. anything it takes to make her happy ... even if it means sharing her with his roommate, Josh.  Once her fantasy has been satisfied though, Sam's not sure he wants to share this beautiful woman with anyone again.  Can he convice her he's more than just a one night stand?  Can she open herself to allow another younger man into her life.  Sam has one night to satisfy Monica in such a way she'll keep coming back ... again and again.

This was a great read, strong characters, well written and super hot sex.  As a series starter this is definitely one of the best I've read in awhile.  Not too long and not too short.  Enough to make you want to come back for more.  An excellent read.

Locked & Loaded by Samantha Cayto

Locked & Loaded by Samantha Cayto from Ellora's Cave.  This is another title in the Tempt the Cougar series.  This was a good read.  Former army-turned ER Doctor Grace McKinnon has done nothing but work, go home and collapse for longer than she cares to remember.  Her life and her sex life has reached beyond the boring/stagnant stage.  She's been reading the Tempt the Cougar blog, lurking in the background, and while the fantasy is hot she just doesn't see herself becoming one of them.  Then she comes face to face with the exact fantasy man she's been dreaming of.  Captain Mark Bennington has brought a friend and ex-army buddy in to the ER and one look at the HOT looking Doctor coming in the door to examine his friend and he's ready to explode!  Taking a chance he gives the Dr a call and to both their surprises she agrees to a date.  Now he's got to convince her that he's the man she needs.  Grace decides to take this chance at her fantasy.  After all he's only in town for a few days on leave and he'll be leaving again for Iraq.  It's the perfect chance to show her Cougar!
One night of hot loving and suddenly they're both fighting the attraction.  She knows she's too old and he's only taking her on for a change of pace.  He knows he wants something more than just a quick fling but his time is running out and he has to convince Grace that age doesn't matter and her hot, delicious body is exactly what he wants ... for more than just a few days!

This was a very good read.  Kept me involved in them from beginning to end.  Well worth the time!

Sin on Skin by Mari Freeman

Read Sin on Skin by Mari Freeman last night.  I enjoyed this one.  A high profile, career driven woman, Stevie Jones had no time for anything other than her job.  On one of her rare vacations she goes to an erotic-romance convention and meets a group of like minded women all nearing or over 40 years old who form a group called Tempt the Cougar.  Going after younger men to help satisfy a need they sometimes didn't know they had until they began talking.  Stevie not only wants a younger man, she wants a younger Alpha male to take all decision out of her hands.  Thinking she'll never find anyone like that she gives in to the one thing she thinks will at least show she has a bit of a wild side.  She decides to get a tattoo.  Getting one proves to be her opening to begin a whole new phase of her life.  She meets tattoo artist Errol and from few comments and looks she suddenly finds herself going to a private club for a little BDSM experimentation.  It's here, with Errol that Stevie finds her Alpha male and finds and relishes a whole new side of herself that she had only dreamed of before.
The characters in this story were very good.  Strong woman, confident man sure of himself and sure of what he sees in Stevie.  They came across very real and popped the story right from the start.  Very easy to get into and it was fun to see how Stevie seemed to blossom in the new environment.  This was a very enjoyable read.

Hat Trick by Cerise DeLand

Finished Hat Trick by Derise DeLand last night.  It was a fun read.  I wasn't as happy with this one as the others that I've read in this series.  For some reason the characters just didn't come alive in this story.  They were fun and the story went well but it felt kind of stilted.  It just didn't click.  As I said it was a fun read and I did enjoy it, but it ranks in the lower end of the scale.
