Through The Wall by Keri Ford is a wonderful read! OMG I was laughing so hard it was great! The humor of two people, one trying desperately to get the other to notice them and the other doing his best to keep it cool and level was rich. When they do try and get together the actions and comments are hilarious. This story had me from the first page and kept me going till the last and I was so sorry to see it end. It was a very nice romance to be sure. The idea of these two people, loving each other but neither one wanting to admit to it, each aching in their own way was heart warming. Stephanie's husband cheated on her and Parker was there with her when she walked in on them. Since that time Parker has been Stephanie's best friend and made sure she was safe and helped her get through the divorce and the recovery. Their apartments are right next to each other and Stephanie's bedroom wall touches Parker's. Parker seems to go through women right and left and the bumping of the headboard against the wall has kept Stephanie awake and all to often hot and bothered. Stephanie has been a good girl and hasn't had sex with anyone since before her divorce (yeah it was that kind of marriage). She's finally reached the point that she's ready to break out but she doesn't want to break out with just any man. Nope .. Stephanie wants Parker. She knows he doesn't do long term but she's at the point where even short term, as long as its with Parker is good enough. Finally she gets enough courage (liquid in form) to actually confront Parker and tell him she needs his help. Parker is shocked and pretty much turns her down. Stephanie isn't taking NO for an answer though and sets out to seduce Parker and force him to see her as more than just a friend.
Parker has loved Stephanie from the very first. As luck would have it his best friend saw her first and Parker was relegated to the outside looking in. Dating, marriage and finally the divorce and Parker has made sure that he was always there if Stephanie needed anything. All the women he's been going through are nothing but substitutes for Stephanie and none of them measure up. Parker doesn't want just a quick roll in the sheets with Stephanie though. He has it all planned out. He wants the whole nine yards, kids, white picket fence, a forever kind of relationship. Suddenly Stephanie turns the tables on him and he doesn't know how to react. He doesn't want short term, he wants it all and some how he has to convince Stephanie that he isn't a player and that what he wants from her is everything.
The characters are fantastic, so very real and so perfectly 'normal' that I couldn't help but want to know more. The story was well written and with just the right amount of humor and sexy tension it was a really great read. I highly recommend this story.
This is the first book in a 6 book series, Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas. The next book is due out in February and I am really looking forward to reading it!
